Indian Safety Norms & Regulatory Framework
All solar installation activities are carried out in strict compliance with the following Indian regulations and standards.
CEA Safety Regulations, 2010
Governs safe design, erection & operation of electrical plants, including solar PV systems.
Electricity Act, 2003
Statutory framework for electrical safety, earthing & protection systems across all installations.
BIS / IS Standards for Solar PV
IS 16270, IS 16221, IS/IEC 61730 — module, cable & system safety requirements.
Factories Act, 1948 & OSH Code, 2020
Occupational health, safety & working conditions for all site personnel.
National Building Code (NBC) 2016
Fire safety, structural & rooftop installation safety provisions.

Protection
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Mandatory PPE kit issued to every worker before entering the solar installation site, as per Factories Act, 1948 & OSH Code, 2020.

Protects against falling objects & head impact on rooftops and ground-mount sites.
Safety Goggles
Shields eyes from glare, dust & debris during drilling and panel handling.
Insulated Hand Gloves
Electrical-grade gloves for cable termination & module wiring tasks.
Safety Shoes
Steel-toe, anti-slip footwear for rooftop & rough terrain movement.
Full-Body Safety Harness
Fall-arrest harness with lifeline for all rooftop & height work (IS 3521).
Hi-Visibility Reflective Vest
Ensures worker visibility at all times across the active work zone.
Electrical Safety & Working at Height
DC & AC side electrical hazards and rooftop fall risks are controlled through these structured measures.
Electrical Safety Measures
- Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO): Strings & inverters isolated and tagged before any wiring or maintenance work begins.
- DC Isolation & Polarity Check: Each string isolated and polarity / voltage verified before connection to combiner box.
- Earthing & Grounding: All module frames, structures & combiner boxes earthed as per IS 3043.
- Insulated Tools & Test Equipment: Only IS-certified insulated tools and calibrated multimeters / clamp meters used.
- RCD / ELCB Protection: Residual current devices installed on AC distribution to prevent earth-leakage shocks.
- Hazard Signage & Labeling: Danger / live-circuit labels placed at panels, junction boxes & inverter rooms.
Working at Height Safety
- Certified Anchor Points & Lifelines: Roof anchors load-tested before use; double-lanyard harness for movement between points.
- Guardrails, Toe Boards & Edge Protection: Perimeter guardrails and toe boards installed along all open rooftop edges.
- Scaffold & Access Equipment Inspection: Daily tag-based inspection of scaffolding, ladders & mobile platforms before use.
- Weather-Based Work Restrictions: Height work suspended during high wind (>30 km/h), rain, or lightning conditions.
Fall Protection First
Every worker on a rooftop or elevated structure is secured to a certified anchor point at all times — zero unprotected exposure above 1.8 m, as per IS 3764.

Fire risks from DC arcing, cabling & hot work are managed proactively at every solar installation site.

CO2 / ABC / DC-rated extinguishers placed near inverter rooms, combiner boxes & switch yards; checked monthly.

Arc-Fault & DC Fault Protection
AFDD-enabled inverters and fuse protection on all DC strings & combiner boxes to prevent arc-fault fires.

Hot-Work Permit System
Permit-to-work required for any cutting, grinding or welding near panels and cabling infrastructure.

Emergency Evacuation Plan
Marked evacuation routes & assembly points displayed at every work zone for rapid response.

Cable Management & Segregation
DC and AC cables routed separately, secured in conduits to prevent abrasion, shorting & fire hazards.

Fire Mock Drills
Periodic fire & emergency drills conducted with the full site team to ensure readiness at all times.
